International Day of People With Disability Event Recap
On December 8th, the Melbourne Children's Campus hosted an event commemorating the International Day of People with Disability.
The event began with award-winning disability advocate Eliza Hull reading from her book "Come over to my house," a delightful picture book that explores the home lives of Deaf or disabled children and parents. Eliza also taught some Australian Sign Language and sang a few songs with the audience.

Following Eliza's performance, there was a conversation with Research Fellow Adrienne Harvey and her 7-year-old neighbour Sienna. They discussed what cerebral palsy means to Sienna and her passion for the ParaMatildas, Australia's first national team for women and girls with cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, and stroke symptoms.

The day was capped off with a special screening of ABC Kids' short film "And Then Something Changed." This film explores what it's like to be a child with Achondroplasia, a type of dwarfism, and how to navigate a world that isn't designed for you.
Overall, this event sparked interesting discussions about disability and accessibility!
