Academy Rounds with Kayte Kitchen on Therapy Garden

Published on December 20, 2023

On this episode of Academy Rounds, Kayte Kitchen, a Therapeutic Garden Program staff member, takes us on a tour of the Kelpie Garden.

Learn about the Therapeutic Garden Program, which provides a supportive garden environment for RCH patients and families to encourage a sense of normalcy and a focus on the healthy aspects of self to improve recovery. In this video, you will also get a look at some of the art examples provided by the Garden Program, such as mosaic tile making, terra cotta pot decorating, and terrarium and jewellery making.

If you are interested in this program, staff can refer patients to garden therapy for some nature inspiration. They especially welcome long-term patients and those who are eager to get outside. RCH treatment teams can request a referral to Child Life Therapy through the EMR. Staff are welcome to visit the gardens too!
