Hear from Jazmyn Karpathakis, a current student of the Master of Genomics and Health
Rapid advances in genomics over the last decade are expected to produce both benefits and challenges in health care. These advancements require a workforce capable of incorporating new ways of thinking about and applying genomics knowledge to clinical practice and policy.
The Master of Genomics and Health program offers advanced training in genomics as well as the current and future impact of genomics and related technologies on health and medicine. Variant curation training prepares students to use analytic methods to interpret human genome variation. This course, which includes both a research program and an internship program, prepares students through experiential learning to work at the cutting edge of genomic medicine in healthcare.
Jazmyn Karpathakis, a current Master of Genomics and Health student, discusses how she used her internship experience through the Master's program to gain practical hands-on geomics work experience. This experience provided Jazmyn with valuable insight into the clinical 'behind the scenes' and how what she learned in class is applied in practice.
