The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that runs from November 25th, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, to December 10th, Human Rights Day.
Throughout the Parkville Precinct until Friday, December 8th, there will be a number of events to which all staff are invited. Some events include a "Lunch and Learn conversation with Tarang Chawla" on December 4th at the Royal Dental Hospital, a Grand Rounds on December 6th on "In touch - Noor lived experience," and a face-to-face event at the Women's Hospital on "The Women's Badjurr - Bulok Wilam & RCH Wadja: Project Respect - training and info" on December 7th.
One recent event was the Walk Against Family Violence, which spanned 1.8km and included staff from all over the Parkville Precinct.

We know firsthand at the Royal Children's Hospital that family violence is a serious health problem that can occur at any age and in any community, but disproportionately affects women and children. This is why we're collaborating to raise awareness about gender-based violence.
"Respect is..." is the theme for 2023, and as RCH Chief Executive Officer Bernadette McDonald recently stated, "Respect is valuing people for who they are."
We encourage everyone to think about what respect means to them.
