NEW Australian Paediatric Asthma Resources

Published on September 4, 2023

We are excited to share with you some NEW AUSTRALIAN PAEDIATRIC ASTHMA RESOURCES, freely available to all those involved in the education and management of children and families of children with asthma.

These resources have been created, with the input of Families, GP’s , Asthma nurses, General Paediatricians and Paediatric Respiratory Physicians, to complement resources already available and widely used to help standardise Paediatric Asthma Education and practice throughout Australia.

New Resources for Health Professionals:

1.Clinical Practice Guideline- Preschool Asthma (ages 1-5)

2. Clinical Practice guideline- Asthma in primary school-aged children (ages 6-11)

Other asthma CPG’s already in this series:

1.Acute asthma

2.Asthma in Adolescents > age 12

New Resources for Parents/Carers of children with Asthma:

1.Asthma in preschool children

Funding for this project was provided by the Department of Health (DoH) to create this comprehensive Preschool Asthma Video and to enable the whole collection listed above, to be translated into 4 languages-currently being done via SBS translation services. These videos play well on the web or on a phone/iPad and are useful for patients, families, teachers, and anyone else who is involved in the care and education of children with asthma.

We would also like to thank the Clinical Practice Guideline Committee for the time and effort involved in creating these CPG’s. The CPGs will be adapted to the GP Health-Pathways program, to support consistent care across settings.
